In Loving Memory ~

Richard John Kerk-Hecker passed away peacefully at his home in 103 Mile on April 15th, 2024, surrounded by his two children, his beautiful friend Kathleen, and his faithful canine compendium (sic) Reyna.

Richard was born in Calgary, Alberta on July 6th, 1953. He first experienced the Cariboo when he was a teenager and fell in love with it immediately. Richard started his family in 1980, welcoming his son Adam. Shortly after Adam was born, Richard and his wife Anna moved to Rail Lake where they built their first home.

In 1983, they welcomed their second child, Melissa who was born in 100 Mile Hospital. Richard built his second house in Watch Lake in the late 1990s and worked as a school bus driver for the Green Lake/Watch Lake school bus route for several years during that time.

Over the years, Richard has moved away several times, but the beauty and serenity of the Cariboo always drew him back. Richard was an avid tennis player, writer, musician, and astronomer.

He will always be loved and greatly missed by his children, Adam and Melissa, and his four grandchildren, Jordan, Cole, Adrienne and James.
