Timberland Alpine Ski Racers from Mt. Timothy made a good showing at the Ninth Annual Rio Tinto Alcan Nancy Greene Husky Snow Star Festival, held at Sun Peaks at the end of March.

Keeley Holloway from 100 Mile House was a member the Timberland team that won a silver medal in the Team Glalom event.

Glalom is a youth event that combines giant slalom with slalom. The silver medal team also included members from Grouse Mountain.

More than 400 competitors came from Whistler, Grouse, Sun Peaks, Mt. Washington and Harper Mountain, as well as Mt. Timothy to compete in the two-day event. It was geared for skiers aged five to 11 who participated in the Nancy Greene Ski League this past year.

The youth ski program's namesake, Nancy Greene, was also at the event to present awards and sign autographs.

Elizabeth Hunt, from Williams Lake, coaches the Timberland skiers and says the Sun Peaks event proved that if you work hard, you can win, even if you don't have world-class coaches and an epic mountain.

"We have world-class snow with world-class parents who love their children and skiing."
