Today (April 25) is the deadline to reserve your seat for The Country Pedlar’s information session, “Farm Life” on May 4 and 5 at the Interlakes Community Centre (ICC.) Admission is free both days and lunch is included.

Saturday’s session runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes poultry, beef, sheep, goat and more.

On Sunday, the 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. session will offer a horse agility demo, Equi-Health Canada, and Canine Health Canada.

Call the Country Pedlar at 250593-4114 to reserve.

Condolences

Deepest sympathy is extended to Katie Kirby and her family on the April 2 loss of her husband, John, at the age of 89. The two were very involved with Bridge Lake Community School back in the mid/late 2000s.

Longtime Sulphurous residents will be sad to learn that Dot Aspen passed away recently at the age of 100; she lived at the top of Laing for many years before moving into town.

My Overgrown Hobby

The vintage decor shop will reopen on May 10 at 7168 Nath Road, West Sheridan. Regular hours are Friday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Payment is by cash and e-transfer only. For info, you can reach Lissa at 604-308-5081 or lissa60smart@gmail.com

Loon Bay Craft Market

The very popular, long-running market opens Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and every Saturday through August 31. Vendors wishing to reserve space may call Joan at 250-593-2353; $15 per week; $17 when a musician attends.

Interlakes Horse Club (IHC)

IHC and 100 Mile & District Outriders are collaborating on six “Buckle Series” events on Sundays starting at 10 a.m. between May and September, during which members vie against each other at alternate venues. The first one is May 12 at 100 Mile & District Outriders Arena; members of the public are welcome to drop in and watch.

Mountain Spruce Community Centre (MSCC)

MSCC has arranged for two more pottery workshops. Cindy Faulkner of Sun Spirit Studio will instruct on building your own peace bell on Tuesday, May 7, and again on Tuesday, May 21, both from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; fee for either class is $62.

The first half of the class will see attendees building and decorating their own bells from rolled slabs of clay. After a break for drying, the bells will be painted with coloured underglazes, and final design touches applied. Cindy will take them to her studio to dry for a week, fire in the kiln, clear-glaze them, and fire them again. A date will be set to meet, see everyone’s creations and take the Peace Bells home.

All materials are included. Bring items for texture—pine cones, leaves, anything you want for your unique masterpiece; and a snack to share. Register to ensure a space at 604-617-7863 or email mtnspruce@gmail.com. Once confirmed, e-transfer $62 to the same e-mail. No refunds.

MSCC is holding a Mothers’ Day Planter workshop with Lake Thyme Floral at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 9; fee $58. RSVP ASAP.

Greetings

Birthday bubbly goes to Shelly Durand, Doreen Wishart, Carel Durand and Montana Forster.
