First responders were on the scene of a motor vehicle incident on Highway 97 at Lakeview Crescent in Williams Lake Thursday morning, May 2, around 9 a.m.
Williams Lake RCMP Cst. Engel said a vehicle pulled out from the Tim Hortons onto the highway and was hit by a truck.
“There were three passengers inside the vehicle,” he confirmed.
Central Cariboo Search and Rescue auto extrication team members used the jaws of life to open the side of a vehicle, which was hung up on a guy wire of a power pole, to get one passenger out of the vehicle who was transported to Cariboo Memorial Hospital for assessment.
Also responding to the incident were RCMP, Williams Lake Fire Department, Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and BC Hydro.
Westbound Highway 97 traffic was being rerouted onto Broadway Avenue South.
Power was off to 4,100 BC Hydro customers as crews worked to remove the car from the power pole wires.
RCMP officers were concerned to see several passing motorists filming and photographing the scene while driving.
